Steven Williams is a Principal attorney with Silberman Law. He advises employers in all areas of U.S. immigration law, with a focus on helping clients create, improve, and administer temporary and permanent sponsorship programs. He works with clients across a broad range of industries to achieve their immigration law compliance needs and their business goals.
Steven’s depth of experience in roles at law firms, in-house, the federal government, and higher education positions him to provide strategic and practical advice to employers. Steven has worked with clients ranging from startups to Fortune 50 companies, and in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, technology, scientific research, finance/banking, and higher education.
Steven collaborates with clients to obtain nonimmigrant work status for employees, including O, L, H, E, TN, and B visa programs. He also guides employers to timely and effectively pursue green card sponsorship for a variety of categories, including individuals of extraordinary ability, outstanding professors and researchers, and multinational managers (EB-1), individuals whose work is in the national interest (EB-2) and professionals who qualify for PERM Labor Certification-based filings (EB-2 and EB-3). Steven has particular expertise in assisting students, scholars, and medical graduates in resolving issues with their F student visas and J exchange visitor status.
Working closely with Silberman Law’s statisticians, Steven also provides data-driven insights into the overall effectiveness of employers’ immigration sponsorship and compliance programs, helping to implement and enhance cost-efficient and successful policies and reduce employer’s immigration compliance risks.
Steven is committed to the importance of thoroughly training clients’ talent acquisition, immigration compliance, human resources, and legal teams, along with sponsored employees and their managers. He works with employers to develop practical, effective training methods, including targeted town halls, pre-recorded customized trainings, and small group or one-on-one consulting.
As a presenter at various professional conferences, including NAFSA, NACUA, AILA, and ILG, Steven is recognized as a knowledgeable and passionate partner to employers and industry professionals.
Prior to joining Silberman Law, Steven worked in-house at two universities in their HR and immigration departments, performed as a government attorney with Department of Homeland Security, and managed clients large and small at a national law firm and global consulting firm.
